Day 11 - To Saõ Caetano

To Santiago de Compostela: 487 km
Walked today: 17 km
Total walked: 152.4 km

I did something wrong and I lost today's pictures.

We got up at 5 am and were able to catch the 7 am with Annie from Sweden.  It took 10 minutes to get to Vale de Figueira.  Yesterday it took us over 4 hours to walk there.

The weather was much better today, 10 C cooler than yesterday.  High of 25 C. Tomorrow should be the same.  We are still walking short distances because of the blisters.  The trail was nicer, a bit more trees and still thru fields of tomatoes although today we added corn to the fields.

Yesterday we met Wolfgang from Belgium.  This guy got up at 4 am and by 8 am,  he caught up with is.  He had walked already  20 km.  I cannot do that in a whole day.

By noon we had arrived to the town of Azinhaga. Small town known for being the birth place of Jose Saramanga, a poet and novel laureate.  We found a pharmacy and had a good time again with the language.  This time it was with Ana the pharmacist we needed band-aids which we know they are "pensos".

After that we went to a restaurant where I asked from Ana, the waiter, for a ham sandwich.  I never seen anything like that, the sandwich was over 30 cm long. We called our ride, Alex, that had agreed to get us by the statue of Saramanga.  We wanted to avoid the larger town of Golega.  We were told there is no accommodation there because they have an extreme triathlon with people from all over the world.  Remember, this is small town.  Anyway, Alex took to his house in the village of Sao Caetan where we will sleep tonight. Since there are no restaurants there we will have dinner with his family.

Tomorrow,  another 20 km to Tomar.

Sao Caetan lived in the middle ages and founded an small order.

Tonight we ask San Caetan to pray for us and our family
